Allowing Comments on Your Blog
So, you’ve decided on a topic that you feel is important. You have a topic for your blog. Do you allow comments to be left?
I got word that Tippy Toes has re-started her blog. I wanted to leave a comment, but that option was not available. I can’t for the life of me figure out why someone would have their comments disabled.
There will always be people who agree and disagree with what you have to say. By not allowing comments, you do a huge disservice to yourself.
You can always edit the comments, but this is not a good option either – unless the comments left are profane or vulgar.
I welcome all comments on my blog. Good or bad, I want to know what you have to say. You have taken time out of your busy day to read what I have written. If you are so inclined to write back to me, I appreciate it even more. It shows me you care about what is being discussed.
I may not always be right. I can be swayed to change my mind. And maybe you have encountered the same problems as myself, and can provide information to back up what I have to say.
So, when you do get that blog started, be sure to allow others to leave comments. Don’t be afraid of what others have to say. Give your readers the time and respect they have given you.
For some addition view points on this topic, check out Jeff Atwood. Thanks Jeff. I agree, a blog without comments is not a blog.
