Cathys Teeth and Java Script – Acai Has a Friend – CPA
I really should get into the CPA thing, but after Cathys Teeth was just brought to my attention I’m really having a problem considering this type of marketing.
I’m sure it’s just a couple of bad eggs, but here’s what I found. Looks like Cathy’s Teeth is just another promise to lure the customer in with a free sample and then charge them anyway. It just kills me that these companies do this as they not only kill themselves but they hurt other companies with legit CPA offers.
CPA is “cost per action” meaning the affiliate gets paid when getting someone to click through and sign up for a product. Affiliates don’t make money off the actual product, but are paid for the sign-ups they generate. The incentive for the consumer is usually a free sample of some kind. All that is left for the affiliate to do is drop the links to the promotion all over the web.
The Cathy’s Teeth product might even work, but someone was really dancing with black hat when developing the website. There appears to be a line of javascript that will determine the the ip address and instantly drops in the location. What do you know? Cathy lives in your hometown! Well, and everyone elses that is unless you are roaming with a high speed broadband card like myself.
In addition, multiple pages of the exact same site were created (probably for the affiliates) and they are all up and running. This allows affiliates to run google ads quickly as they are able to point the ad to a fresh domain.
The complaints are coming in now, but I am confident the list will grow as more people get charged the $79.00 without realizing. Just a matter of time before they get their credit card bills. Those paying with a debit card will find out much sooner.
